I am Healey Ikerd.
I am created by God and loved by Him also. (You are too!)
I have loved reading and writing since I was young. When I wasn't outside playing, it was normal to spend most of my time with my head in a book. Time would speed by as I lost myself in the stories. The Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys mysteries and Little House on the Prairie series were some of my favorites. The Stranger, Gone with the Rats, and Friends Forever were the first books that I authored in those early years. These were classics known only to my family. ;)
I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma, joined the Army Reserve after high school, and then went on active duty after college. I served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve for a total of 13 years. I worked as a director of a local non-profit for seven years. I have also worked in the mental health field in various capacities for 17 years. I manage HopeLife Counseling, my private counseling practice, and live on a small farm in Northwest Arkansas. I married late in life to a handsome Louisiana man, Glen, who has a beautiful daughter, Macy, whom I love as my own. I have one son, Dedrick, and a grandson, Hendrix and a new granddaughter, Kaylani. Dedrick has brought a sweet fiancé and her 10-year-old son into our life, blessing us even more.
I love spending time with my family! I also spend a lot of time with our goats and chickens trying to make their life as happy as possible. My hobbies are gardening and anything else outside.
Glen and I are active members of First Baptist Church in Fayetteville where the gospel of Jesus Christ is preached weekly. If you are in the area or just visiting the area, feel free to join us! We sit in the front. ;)
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Arkansas and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor. My education includes a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Arkansas, a Master's of Human Relations Degree from the University of Oklahoma, and a Master's of Science Degree from John Brown University in Community Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy. I also earned a Certificate in Ministry from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. I really love to learn!
Though I grew up knowing Jesus, I surrendered my life to him as a young girl in a rural church during vacation bible school. After my parent's divorce the summer before my senior year, I found it challenging to walk out what I believed. Thanks to my ever-patient Father God, in my late 20s, I rededicated my life and nothing has been ever the same since. Reading and studying the Bible helped change my life where I actually knew and lived out the Truth. I got to know God better than I ever had. Now, I advocate to others the importance of reading the bible daily. It is the only way to really know what God says and live that out. I am an admin of a Facebook group with my brother called Deep Roots, which shares Bible verses five days a week and occasional devotionals to help members grow in God's Word.
